பரி : thanks for the candid remark.

Thoughts on 'Link Love'

* Technorati has 'Filter By Authority' which is based on incoming links to the blog. Considering thatz a good metric, there has to be blog rolls with the favorite links. It will ensure, the person who is most read gets a better rank in search engines.

Just linking Thamizhmanam/Gilli/Thenkoodu will not fit in with the general accepted democratic technology norm of search engines

* There used to 'Trackbacks' once upon a time. Nowadays, nobody does it (probably due to universal feed readers like Thenkoodu). This leads to losing the conversation thread.

* Topic based blogs are a rarity in Tamil blog arena. The only consistent interface is 'Cinema.weblogs.us' - keetrukottaai. Other blogs like Therthal2006.blogspot.com does not consolidate the various tamil bloggers' perspectives, MSM, news stories. With everybody having a different tagging method, a cool, clean way to quickly glance TN election news is possible with 'link-love'

* Since some of the opinions are translated from English and adapted to Tamil, it might be a link practice to point to other places in english blogs and news media.

* Thamizhmanam & Thenkoodu does not carry infinite 'archives'. So a person who comes 2/3 years from now, will benefit from correct links (instead of implcit assumption to locate the post by author, her/his blog at that circa, secondary and tertiary discussions.

* The obsession with associated influence by measuring links, opinion stated in the links and the quality of the links is implicit in tamil blogs. Almost a taboo? This holy grail could be broken by link love.

OTOH, when the number of tamils who are launching a blog inches closer to the online total, link love will become a reqd parameter for attention.

Notes: Std disclaimers apply; They are all imHo and not of Gilli. If U like to take this offline please email me :-)

Gilli is better off of "guest" columns. Remember, the promise is "no original content" here.
--
"Link love sucks with tamil blogosphere."
-There was one, and now two/three (thamizmanam, thenkoodu, tamiloviam) "repositories" of almost "all" links. So everyone around knows where to find 'em.
