The Indian media has been very active in portraying feminists as illogical, unreasonable, and sometimes even ungrateful women. Notice how Bollywood loves to parody those cotton-saree clad, no nonsense tight bun and pursed lipped women as your average feminist?
Ultimately, what happens is, the average Indian man/woman, comes to look down upon feminism as it comes across as unworthy of anyone's time. A useless waste of time by those educated women who should be married and looking after their husband's children.
